It has been a number of years since we made a trek south to do winter bird walk at the Sandhills National Wildlife Refuge close to McBee, SC.
We will reacquaint ourselves with this 46,000 acre refuge of pine forest habitat along with its many ponds and seepage bogs. The endangered red- cockaded woodpecker resides here along with numerous wild turkeys.
